Jenacell (Jena)

JeNaCell  is an innovative SME working in the field of biotechnology. The company was founded in 2012 as a spin-off from D. Kralischs group at the Friedrich-Schiller University (FSU) Jena. Key technology is an IP protected (semi-)continuous production process for biotechnologically derived cellulose (BC) for applications in medicine, cosmetics, pharmacy and more. The product portfolio comprises BC-based products for modern wound management, drug-delivery systems as well as high performance cosmeceuticals.

The company has established a quality management system and is certified according to ISO 13485.

Dana Kralisch is a chemist by learning and worked since 2006 as a research group leader at the FSU. She supervised more than 20 diploma, master and PhD theses. In 2012, she co-founded JeNaCell and started 2013 to work as a chief technical officer for this company. In parallel, she became senior lecturer at the department of Pharmaceutical Technology and Biopharmacy and received a German habilitation degree and venia legendi in Pharmaceutical Technology in 2015.
