ESR14 – Liru Wen

Liru Wen was born in Yuncheng, China. In 2018, she finished her bachelor’s degree in nursing at Harbin Medical University. Then, she obtained her master’s degree in Basic Medicine at Shenzhen University where she worked on osteoarthritis. In 2021, she applied the PhD position of AO Research Institute in Regenerative Orthopedics group.

In her leisure time, she likes to relax with a movie and cook. She also likes sports such as outdoor activities like hiking and ski.

 

Liru’s role within CARTHAGO

Liru joined CARTHAGO in July 2021 as an early-stage researcher. She works at the AO Research Institute Davos under the supervision of Prof. Martin Stoddart. Her project will focus on delivery of nucleic acid for treatment of cartilage degeneration. She will test the safety and efficiency of different methods to transfect nucleic acid into cartilage in cartilage degeneration model. Cartilage bioreactor which could provide compression and shear force would also be applied in cartilage to mimic in vivo state.
